Oh the Places You’ll [Hopefully (Fingers Crossed)] Go!

Growing up, my parents read a story to my sister and I every night before bed. Pages of the Berenstain Bears series were worn in and recited by heart, but some of my most vivid childhood memories stem from the classics of Dr. Seuss. The whimsy, the colors, the rhymes…what’s not to love? In honor of the great writer’s 108 birthday (today!) and the new movie, The Lorax, which I’m stoked to see because of Taylor Swift and Zac Efron, I decided to culminate my top 10 favorite Dr. Seuss quotes. You know I love quotes! From life lessons to writing advice, these fun, sing-song words of wisdom are sure to put a smile on your face. Happy Friday!

“Why fit in when you were born to stand out?”
“The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go”
“If things start happening, don’t worry, don’t stew, just go right along and you’ll start happening, too.”
“You know you’re in love when you can’t fall asleep because reality is finally better than your dreams.”
“Sometimes the questions are complicated and the answers are simple.”
“Today you are you. That is truer than true. There is no one alive that is you-er than you.”
“Don’t cry because it’s over. Smile because it happened.”
“Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don’t matter and those who matter don’t mind.”
“So the writer who breeds more words than he needs, is making a chore for the reader who reads.”
“You have brains in your head. You have feet on your shoes. You can steer yourself in any direction you choose. You’re on your own, and you know what you know. You are the guy who’ll decide where to go.”

What’s your favorite Dr. Seuss book?
